James Jelks started Florez wines in Santa Cruz after time spent studying at UC Davis and working at vineyards around the world. This informs his old world sensibility while making wines with a particular West Coast panache.
Kind of Orange is his skin contact Sauvignon Blanc with 3 weeks carbonic maceration on the skins. Peach skin and tropical fruits abound while the profile overall is dry, grippy, and structured.
