Ronchi di Cialla Pignolo 2014
The sunny slopes of the small Cialla valley have been planted with vineyards for centuries. History and tradition suggest that Verduzzo, Picolit, Ribolla Gialla, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Schioppettino were the most appreciated and popular vines in antiquity. Schioppettino in particular, which had been about to disappear, was saved at the beginning of the 1970's thanks to a bold and resolute decision made by Ronchi di Cialla. The Rapuzzi family is credited with reviving and maintaining these autochthonous varieties and have for over four decades produced some of the finest wines of Italy. Now run by sons Ivan and Pierpaolo, their dedication to biodiversity and natural winemaking is a foundation and pillar of the wines of Friuli.
