Falkenstein Falkensteiner Landwein
Hofgut Falkenstein
The father and son team of Erich and Johannes Weber specialize in linear, mineral high-acid, often bone-dry Rieslings from their 9 hectares, many on steep slopes, in the Saar-Mosel-Ruwer region. Casks are often separated by parcel so that you can find distinct, single-vineyard expressions, denoted with an AP numbering system. Farming is organic, cellar practices are minimalist, using only native yeasts.
Landwein is a mildly bubbly (i.e. frizzante) and farmhouse-y expression of weissburgunder, aka pinot blanc. Melon, green apple, grassy with fresh herbs, hazy and textural.
