Haarmeyer Wine Cellars are predominantly Chenin Blanc obsessed but make time for this rare expression of classic Nebbiolo but from California, grown on the Heringer estates, a family-run operation with decades of experience in Clarksburg. As detail-obsessed winemakers, HWC picks early in the season to preserve a lively acidity and soft tannins and make this bottling without destemming or foot stomping for a delicate palate. Opening with a floral bouquet, it is light and fresh on the palate with a twiggy grit, whiff of white pepper, and note of ripe red berries.
