Johan Vineyards All Ewe Need Is Love
Johan Vineyards
Johan Vineyards is a large biodynamic vineyard in the Van Duzer Corridor AVA, Oregon, which supplies many other natural winemakers with quality grapes and has only within the last few years started making wine under their own label. This blend of Austrian varietals (55% Blaufrankisch, 32% St Laurent, 13% Zweigelt) originated as a means to fundraise for their first flock of sheep and the infrastructure needed to support them. The profits of this label still go toward supporting the sheep, as well as vegetable gardens on the property. What’s more, it’s a deliciously wild berry-forward medium-bodied red, with just the right amount of silky tannins, herbs, and spice. Truly a red for a rainy day.
