OltreTorrente Rosso Colli Tortonesi 2020

Oltretorrente Rosso is a blend of 90% Barbera, Dolcetto, and a small amount of a field blend that consists of red and white grapes. It has all the earth and bing cherry of a classic Barbera with a bit of lift of dried herbs and bright acidity. A truly versatile wine with food but equally gulpable on its own. 

Oltretorrente means ‘beyond the stream,’ referring to the vineyards location near the Scrivia, a tributary to the Po river, but has the added meaning of ‘countercurrent.’ Chiara Penati and Michele Conoscente had years of winemaking experience under their belt before starting their own project where vineyard work is done by hand, farming is organic and biodynamic, and cellar work is low-intervention.
