Susana Esteban "Procura" Tinto 2015
Susana Esteban
Susana Esteban, a native of Galicia who adopted Portuguese wines as her calling, learned the ropes in Douro before establishing her own projects. Procura refers to the two-year long process of selection by Susana Esteban of the perfect vineyard sites for her wines, where she makes wines of terroir with methods traditional to Alentejo. The Tinto consists of one plot devoted to Alicante Bouschet, a teinturier grape with red flesh, the other plot a traditionally mixed vineyard in a cooler climate, resulting in a deep and complex wine of a unique terroir: dark in color with earthy intensity and ripe dark fruit, well-integrated tannins, a fresh vegetal aroma, and mineral nuance.
The result is deceptively dark in the glass with surprisingly mild tannins and freshness on the palate with a distinct note of tobacco and vegetal character underscoring a palate of dark berry.
